Council to meet Tuesday::1
Much of Tuesday’s McMinnville City Council meeting will consist of presentations requiring no formal action.
However, the council will vote on a resolution authorizing city staff to submit a loan application to the state for McMinnville’s share of financing for the Newberg-Dundee Bypass. Submission of the application would allow the city to begin negotiating terms.
The council will meet in informal dinner session at 6 p.m. and formal business session at 7 p.m. at the McMinnville Civic Hall, 200 N.E. Second St. Both are open to interested members of the public.
In addition to voting on the loan application, the council will discuss recommendations from city Planning Director Doug Montgomery for appointees advisory committees to council.
Two are intended to work with a consultant creating a plan for a downtown urban renewal district. The third would work with a consultant hired by a private developer on an update of the city’s Economic Needs Analysis.
In other business, the council will hear presentations about the city park ranger program, jointly operated by the police and parks and recreation departments, and on the fire department’s fire prevention and educational program activities, in light of elimination of the city’s fire marshal position.
