Chamber awards rescheduled, open house canceled

The Greater McMinnville Chamber of Commerce canceled its awards dinner, scheduled for Thursday night, due to the inclement weather.

The event has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20, at the same time and place, 6 to 9 p.m. in the McMinnville Grand Ballroom.

An open house to present a proposed new transportation system plan for Yamhill County also was canceled, along with a meeting of the Road Improvement Advisory Committee.

The meeting was scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, but county officials and the consultant company preparing the plan, DKS Associates, decided to postpone it, because of weather concerns. A new date has not yet been scheduled.

The Willamina City Council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, was postponed until 7 p.m. Tuuesday at City Hall. Newly-elected Mayor Ila Skyberg will be sworn in following the resignation of Corey Adams, whose term expires Dec. 31.

The weekend weather forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

. . . Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 26. North wind 5 to 8 mph.

. . . Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 42. Northeast wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

. . . Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24. North/northeast wind around 11 mph.

. . . Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 42. North/northeast wind around 8 mph.

. . . Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30.

YES but there are those of us that have to work and to get to work we have to drive......let's hope it's more snow and less ice...I all for that!!! :)
