Woman killed in McMinnville motorcycle crash

[Updated 11/12 1:45 p.m.]  A 25-year-old woman died about 8 p.m. Sunday when she crashed a motorcycle into the back of a legally parked 1988 GMC pickup on Southeast Millwright Avenue, south of Naomi Way, according to McMinnville police.

They said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim as Reshelle A. Kair, whose residence was unknown. They said the motorcycle belonged to her boyfriend — James Nash, 33, of McMinnville — who was riding on the back at the time, but escaped injury.

Capt. Dennis Marks gave this account:

The motorcycle, a 2015 KTM 350, was northbound on Millwright when the front wheel lifted, sending it out of control. The front wheel was still off the ground when the motorcycle impacted the pickup.

Neither Kair nor Nash were wearing helmets, or any other type of safety gear, Marks said. Both riders may have consumed alcohol prior to the crash, according to Marks.

The crash is being investigated by the Yamhill County Multi-Agency Traffic Team. Anyone with information is asked to contact sheriff’s deputy Steve Wilkinson at 503-434-7506.
